Transfer Students: Your First TU Semester

Here are some things you’ll need to know for your first semester here at TU:

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Once admitted, Transfer Admissions will post your official credit evaluation before your orientation date. To evaluate your credits, TU requires official transcripts from all the institutions you have attended. Your transfer credit evaluation determines how the courses you have transferred fit into the degree requirements at TU. Course equivalencies will be posted directly to your student account and your Academic Requirements Report. If an equivalency cannot be determined by our evaluators, or you would like a particular course reconsidered for an equivalency, you may request a review of the course content. The course must be reviewed by the academic department which teaches the course for which you’re seeking credit. 

Academic Advising and Transition Support

Following orientation, you’ll be matched with a major adviser from your academic department. If you haven’t been assigned one by the start of the semester, reach out to your department’s office. In addition, a Transition Support Adviser from the Academic Advising, Retention, and Completion Office will stay in contact with you throughout your first semester. While not specific to your major, they’re here to help you adjust to TU’s academic expectations and processes.

Online Services (PeopleSoft), Undergraduate Catalog, Blackboard, and Email

As a first-semester transfer student, you’ll be added to a dedicated Blackboard site with important academic resources, policies, and support tools specific to your needs. Throughout the semester, you’ll be invited to transfer-specific workshops and advising sessions to help guide your transition. These resources will help you become familiar with your student dashboard and the key resources it provides. You’ll also learn how to access your academic requirements report and use it for planning, advising, and registration. In addition, you’ll learn how to find and navigate the online undergraduate catalog.
